Home School and Private School

            Application Process

The Application Window is Open November – March.

Step 1-Apply online to STA by February 10 by following these instructions:

Private School Students:

Apply to STA by clicking “Apply here”. You will be prompted to create and confirm your account via email before you begin your application. Once you begin your application, please choose the name of your private school in the drop down menu when you create your account AND choose the public high school of residence (which public HS you would attend if not private/home schooled — based on where you live) from drop down menu as well.

If the name of your private school is NOT listed in the drop down menu when you create your application account, complete the following four tasks:

  1. Teacher online reference:  type the email address of the teachers who will be completing your online reference form in the blank in place of the teachers’ names.
  2. At the top of your first essay answer, you must include the name of your private school and the name of your public high school of residence (where you would attend if you were to attend public high school).
  3. Also, at the top of your first essay answer, include the contact information (email and phone)  for your two teachers who will complete the online reference survey for you.
  4. Ensure your private school emails Mr. Nevinski (jeffrey.nevinski@lsr7.net) your latest transcript, unweighted GPA, and attendance percentage.

Home School Students:

Apply to STA by clicking “Apply here if you are a private or home school student” You will be prompted to create and confirm your account via email before you begin your application. Once you begin your application, please choose “home school” in the drop down menu when you create your account AND choose the public high school of residence from drop down menu as well.

Your application will not be processed until each of the following tasks are completed according to the application timeline:

  1. Ensure your home school administrator (or parent) emails Mr. Nevinski (jeffrey.nevinski@lsr7.net) your latest transcript, and unweighted GPA within 48 hours of your application. Your application for STA will not be considered complete, and therefore will not be processed, and you will not be considered for admission until these documents are provided.
  2. Teacher online reference:  type the email address of the teachers who will be completing your online reference form in the blank in place of the teachers’ names.
  3. At the top of your first essay answer, you must include that you are a home school student and the name of your public high school of residence (where you would attend if you were to go to public high school).
  4. At the top of your first essay answer, include the contact information for your two teachers who will complete the online reference form for you.

Step 2-Request Endorsement from your public school of residence

By the end of March if you have qualified for the STA course for which you have applied, you will receive an letter of qualification from STA and a form to request endorsement at your public school of residence.  This letter and form will include the name of the liaison contact at your public high school of residence for you to begin the process of requesting endorsement.  Endorsement means the public school of residence agrees to pay the $3,500 tuition rate to attend Summit Technology Academy for the next academic year.
Note: Summit Technology Academy can only receive public school funds. LSR7 Board Policy does not allow Summit Technology Academy to accept private funds for tuition to the Academy at this time.

Step 3 – Email Completed Endorsement Form to STA Enroll at Your Public School of Residence

Submit your completed endorsement form to Mr. Jeffrey Nevinski (jeffrey.nevinski@lsr7.net). STA must have your completed endorsement form on file in order for you to proceed further. The student’s enrollment is still pending at this time.

Step 4 – Enroll at Your Public School of Residence

Next, you need to officially enroll at that high public high school (this typically takes place June-August each year). Upon officially enrolling at your public school of residence, email your official class schedule or public school student id # from the public school of residence showing your proof of your approved enrollment status at the public school of residence to Mr. Jeffrey Nevinski, STA Assistant Principal (jeffrey.nevinski@lsr7.net).

Step 5 – Letter of acceptance admittance to STA

Finally, after STA has received your completed endorsement form (Step 3) and class schedule/id # (Step 4) from your public school of residence, STA will send you a letter of admittance as long as there are spots available.
