UCM Steps to Success

 

 

Get certified in a profession in your last semester! Graduating High School and want a competitive advantage in the workplace? A certification is your advantage. Many employers require certification because they know that certified professionals are committed to their profession and they also tend to enjoy higher wages and greater promotional opportunities.

UCM provides student success to recent STA grads or seniors who will be 18 years old by the beginning of second semester (age required to sit for national certification exams), most programs are night or online opportunities and will require additional costs to receive the certifications. 

Project Management

CAPM Project Management Certification

30 hours of classroom/online instruction.

Introductory Project Management Course that prepares students for the Industry recognized credential offered by the Project management Institute (PMI), the Certified Associate in Project Management.(CAPM)® is an asset that will distinguish you in the job market and enhance your credibility and effectiveness working on — or with — project teams.

Safety

OSHA 30

This certificate, highly sought by employers, teaches health and safety awareness to reduce the risk of workplace hazards. This certification is highly sought by employers.

Animal Health/Science

Veterinary Assistant Technician

150 contact hours. Industry does not require national certification at this time.

Healthcare

Sterile Processing Technician

130 hours of classroom training plus 400 hours of clinical experience.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to take the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) exam to become a Certified Registered Central Services Technician.

Phlebotomy Technician

120 hours

Students are eligible to sit for the Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) exam.

Pharmacy Technician

600 contact hours

Prepares students for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Medical Billing and Coding

110 contact hours

After obtaining practical work experience, students can sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders Exam.

Clinical Medical Assistant Program with Externship

170 contact hours

Students are eligible to sit for National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national exam.
