Nearly 800 participants convened at Blue Springs South High School, in Blue Springs, MO, for the 6th Annual Missouri Project Lead The Way State Conference held November 5-6, 2017.    Attendees included teachers, students, administrators, exhibitors, non-profits, industry leaders and dignitaries from the state and local government.  The goal was to share, collaborate, recognize achievement and increase awareness for PLTW and STEM training throughout the state of Missouri.  

 

Lee’s Summit R-7 was recognized at the conference as a 100% student access school district. School districts recognized offer Project Lead The Way programs for elementary, middle, and high school students.

 

Seven Missouri individuals were recognized for their outstanding service to Project Lead The Way, their school district and their students. Each was nominated and chosen by a committee of their peers and honored at the Awards and Recognition Banquet. One honoree was, Peggy Hinzman, Health Sciences teacher at Summit Technology Academy. Peggy Hinzman was honored as the Outstanding Biomedical Sciences Teacher of the Year. Each nominee was chosen for their dedication and commitment and presented with a plaque and award poster.  “We appreciate all they do to inspire and engage students to be the leaders of the future.  We applaud them for a job well done,” says David Hosick, Project Lead the Way Senior Affiliate Director, Missouri S&T.  Dr. Vince Bertram, President and CEO of National PLTW congratulated and presented each nominee with their award and a signed copy of his latest book, Dream Differently, Candid Advice for America’s Students.
