One of the district’s fastest growing career path interests is Medical. The Lee’s Summit School district offers a Project Lead the Way program in the Biomedical Sciences. This 4 year course of study starts off with year 1 Principles of Biomedical Science, year 2 Human Body Systems and completes with years 3 & 4 Medical Interventions (fall) and Biomedical Innovations (Spring) at Summit Tech. Students completing this 4 year course of study are honored during a ‘white coat ceremony’.
Students taking Principles of Biomedical Science their 9th grade year of high school have an advantage in determining their career path as a graduating senior. In an effort to help the 8th grade Science students know what to take in the 9th grade, all three Middle Schools opened their doors to the PLTW MI/BI student ambassadors from Summit Technology Academy. The ambassadors presented to the 8th grade students during their Science classes. Thanks so much to PLMS, BCMS and SLMS!
