Students from around the KC metro were presented awards  on their innovative solutions to problems large and small during KC STEM Alliance’s annual Project Lead The Way Capstone Project Showcase on Friday, May 1, 2020.

The Showcase highlighted students’ PLTW capstone projects from the Engineering Design and Development and Biomedical Innovations PLTW courses from the Greater Kansas City Region. The event celebrated students’ ingenuity and creativity while connecting them with business partners and culminated with an awards ceremony to recognize winners in three related competitions.

The PLTW engineering and biomedical science design competitions highlight the importance of design thinking and problem solving. Students design and develop real-world projects that are showcased in an online portfolio. Practicing professionals review and judge the portfolios online.  Senior Showcase scholarships are made possible by KC STEM Alliance’s major financial supporters.

STA second-year Engineering students took seven of the top ten winning spots in Engineering Design competition.
