LSR7 Superintendent says voters approved a bond that is a ‘game changer’ for students!

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — Voters in Lees Summit have spoken. Tuesday’s election results show the public supports a plan to build a new campus for Summit Technology Academy, the school district’s science-focused career center.

On Tuesday, voters approved a $40 million bond issue, part of which goes toward building a new, larger facility where high school students will get the chance to focus on specialized careers in various fields.

Lee’s Summit School District Superintendent David McGehee told FOX 4 it’s “a game-changer.” The district plans to open the new classroom building in August 2017.

Students like Colby Huser and Kevin Russo think about tech projects day and night. As students at the Missouri Innovation Campus, they’re on track to graduate from high school next year, and gain an associate’s degree from college at the same time.
