Students capture awards in Aspirations in Computing Award

Two students at the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s Summit Technology Academy recently captured awards in a regional essay contest focusing on computing and technology. Vale Gibson was a winner, and Dorian Gray received honorable mention in the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) Western Missouri and Kansas Regional Award for Aspirations in Computing competition.

Vale is a 2016 senior at William Chrisman High School involved in the Missouri Innovation Campus and an intern at Federal Reserve Bank. Dorian is a junior from Lee’s Summit North High School.

They are joining other high-school winners at a recognition ceremony on Feb. 3 in Kansas City. The contest honors young women for their computing-related achievements and interests. To read more on this topic, click here.
